BaZi Personality Analysis
Your Four Pillars, your Day Master
BaZi — the Chinese Four Pillars of Destiny — reads your birth moment as a balance of the five elements, centered on your Day Master. It's a rich lens on personality, career, and timing. AstroWise calculates yours and weighs it against eight other systems.
What BaZi is
BaZi means "eight characters." Your birth year, month, day, and hour each become a pillar — a pairing of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch — and together those four pillars give eight characters that describe the elemental weather you were born into. Every stem and branch belongs to one of five elements: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water.
The heart of the chart is your Day Master — the stem of your day pillar. That single element represents you, and the whole reading is really the story of how your Day Master sits among the other elements: supported or drained, in command or under pressure.
What AstroWise calculates
A structurally accurate BaZi chart, using the traditional solar-term calendar so your pillars fall on the correct boundaries.
The Four Pillars
Year, month, day, and hour — each a stem and branch — set on the true solar-term calendar (so, for example, births in early February resolve to the correct year).
Your Day Master
The element and polarity at the center of your chart — the yardstick everything else is measured against.
The Ten Gods
How every other element relates to your Day Master — support, output, wealth, authority, or peers — the backbone of the personality and career reading.
Luck Pillars
Your ten-year cycles — the decade-long "seasons" that shift the elemental balance over your life, used for timing.
Personality, career, and wealth
Your Day Master's element is the first clue to temperament — a Water Day Master reads differently from a Fire one. But the real depth comes from the Ten Gods, which show where your energy naturally wants to flow. Charts weighted toward "output" elements lean creative and expressive; those weighted toward "wealth" elements lean toward resourcefulness and enterprise; "authority" elements lean toward discipline and structure.
That's why BaZi is so often used for career and wealth questions: it describes the shape of how you work and what naturally supports or challenges you, then the luck pillars show when those themes are most active across the decades.
The honest limits of a simplified BaZi
BaZi is deep, and a good human practitioner spends years on the subtleties. AstroWise calculates the structure faithfully — pillars, Day Master, Ten Gods, luck pillars — but it deliberately does not declare a single "useful god" or favorable element for you. That judgment is genuinely contested even among experts, and we'd rather leave it open than fake certainty.
So treat this as a strong structural reading, not the last word on your chart — and, as always, one lens among nine rather than a standalone verdict.
One chart, nine systems
Your BaZi is one voice. An AstroWise report reads you across nine systems — Western and Vedic astrology, Human Design, Gene Keys, BaZi, Kabbalah, two numerologies, and the Mayan count — and gives more weight to the themes several of them share, each with an AstroWise Confidence Score. When your Day Master's story echoes your astrology or your numerology, that agreement is where real confidence comes from.

BaZi: common questions
What is BaZi?+
BaZi, or the Four Pillars of Destiny, is a Chinese system that maps your birth year, month, day, and hour into eight characters — a Heavenly Stem and Earthly Branch for each pillar. From these, it reads your elemental make-up and life patterns. The day pillar's stem, your Day Master, represents you.
What does AstroWise calculate for BaZi?+
Your Four Pillars (using the traditional solar-term calendar boundaries), your Day Master and its element and polarity, the Ten Gods relationships across your chart, and your ten-year luck pillars. It doesn't attempt to declare a single "useful god" or favorable element, which experienced practitioners debate case by case.
Do I need my birth time for BaZi?+
The hour pillar needs your birth time. Without it, AstroWise still reads the year, month, and day pillars — including your Day Master — so you get a meaningful three-pillar analysis; only the hour pillar is left out.
What are the Ten Gods?+
The Ten Gods describe how each element in your chart relates to your Day Master — as support, output, wealth, authority, or peers. They're the backbone of a BaZi personality and career reading, pointing to where your energy naturally flows: creativity, resources, drive, discipline, or collaboration.
